A top quality, coarsely ground flour is a must for traditional polenta dishes with meat, mushrooms and tomato-based sauces. Ours is pre-cooked with steam to make it fast cooking while retaining all the goodness and flavour of the original cornmeal.

Polenta is a traditional Northern Italian dish where it has been a staple since the beginning of the 16th century when the cultivation of corn was introduced to Europe from the Americas.

Fontana FORMIELLO polenta is a specially selected blend of different varieties of corn from Northern Italy.

PREPARATION
Bring to boil 2 litres of salted water (4 parts water for 1 of polenta), and gradually pour in the polenta, stirring continuously for about 3 minutes.

COOKING TIPS
For a more solid consistency, increase the cooking time.

COOKING IDEAS
It is ideal for traditional polenta dishes with meat (braised beef, sausage, stews), mushroom and red sauces.

STORAGE
Store in a cool dark place. Once opened, store polenta on a tightly sealed container. Best before date see top of the packaging.

Our polenta is packed in vacuum-sealed plastic bags. This packaging helps to preserve the nutritional value of this flour and extends its shelf life naturally without the use of preservatives. Whilst we prefer to avoid plastic, this solution results in a longer shelf life and consequently in reduced food waste.
